In the last Newsletter we featured Christine Wrightson’s experience as reported in the Evening Press. Christine has sent us this update:
I would like to say a big thank you to Sandra Tomlinson. I know some of you will have heard of me in the last Newsletter.
I had the short Synacten test for adrenal reserve and was told all was well with my adrenals, and no diagnosis = no treatment. I am very impressed with Sandra. A very level headed and caring person, who just wants to see people get well. She does not go will nilly telling people to treat themselves. Sandra advised me to have private test and consult a private doctor. This test revealed my adrenals were at exhaustion stage, leaving me short of cortisol. I am still not completely better as there are other issues involved; but I am very grateful I am still here, thanks to Sandra. Every ME Group should have a Sandra, we are very lucky.
I have been looking into the protocols for synacten testing. It seems that every hospital has their own and they differ. So how on earth does the patient know if they have had the best test?
I have complained to my MP and written to the House of Lords and the Department of Health. I have also put in a formal complaint to the hospital, this has now been passed onto the Health Commission. Please wish me luck in all of this.
